The Moshito Music Conference & Exhibition

The Moshito Music Conference & Exhibition’s new board prepares to celebrate ten years of success

Vanguard of the South African music industry, the Moshito Music Conference & Exhibition prepares to celebrate a decade of cutting-edge insights, music know-how and industry accomplishments. With fresh ideas and a change in venue, the newly elected board of directors promises a stand out year.

By building on past successes, but re-positioning the key components of the conference structure, Moshito aims to offer a more focused programme that features a compelling mix of both local and international speakers, but also allows for better audience engagement. The result –  a more memorable, entertaining and media-rich experience.

This year Moshito welcomes Sipho Dlamini, Incoming CEO of SAMRO as the board’s new Chairman. A seasoned member of the music business, Dlamini brings his knowledge and experience to this dynamic team of entertainment industry professionals.

Dlamini is joined on the board by Moshito Vice Chairperson Tholsi Pillay (Music Managers Forum), Treasurer George Lusenga (AIRCO) and members Sipho Sithole (SAMRO), Simon Sibanda (NORM), Steve Mashiya (SAMPA), Samuel Mhangwani (SAMPA) and Vusi Leeuw (AIRCO).

“As the Chairman of the event I’m excited by the challenge ahead and I look forward to leading the organisation to a successful conference. The board has worked hard to overcome the obstacles encountered last year. We’re happy to have finalised the content and the program well in advance and to have already identified speakers for the conference,” said Dlamini

“Our partners and sponsors at the SABC, Department of Arts & Culture, DTI and Gauteng Sports, Culture & Recreation are working closely with our board to ensure that we have a milestone 10th conference,” he continued.

Over the past 10 years, Moshito has become an event of choice for those serious about success in the music industry. The business of music is continually evolving, with the digital revolutions transforming the market place. Industry challenges are only likely to increase and as an educating initiative, Moshito prides itself in its offer of acumen and insight in preparing musicians.

Fittingly the Moshito Music Conference & Exhibition 10th year celebrations return to the Sandton Convention Centre, where the original exhibition was hosted.  The 2013 conference will feature a bigger-than-before, purpose-built, dedicated exhibition area that will give all industry players a place to showcase their businesses.

“We are creating a staging ground for record labels, film and television production companies and musicians to promote themselves alongside the corporate brands who also have an interest in the entertainment industry.” says Tholisi Pillay, Moshito Vice Chairperson.
